Welcome to the North, South, East, and Rest, a travel blog about finding humor and humanity in travel.
Clockwise from top left: in Jerusalem’s Old City Bazaar; at Obicá Mozarella Bar, SoHo, London, England; with King Richard III, Leicester, England; near an illuminated Acropolis at twilight, Athens, Greece.
Welcome to North, South, East, and Rest, a blog about altering your geography and about finding humor and humanity in traveling.
My name is C. I am a firm believer that traveling increases empathy and is often hilarious. Traveling doesn't have to follow a set itinerary (and probably shouldn’t). Marvelous adventures don't have to be to far-flung destinations, but they can be. Indulging in sub-par fiction while lying on a sun lounger doesn't have to be the only way to have a relaxing vacation, but it can be. Eating a meal entirely composed of cheese with the love of your life and two of your best friends doesn’t have to be the most succinct encapsulation of the tyranny and glory of capitalism, but it can be.
Follow along as I explore, searching for stuff on and off the beaten path, learning about things I didn't know existed, discovering things that were hidden right under my nose, and, more often than not, finding myself in a toilet designed to the specifications of an extraterrestrial species. This blog, my friends, is about being changed by travel— by finding yourself in the world. And, of course, about being a derp in the wild.
